The Arduino 24Channel Analog Expander Shield is a nifty little shield that enhances the dismal 6 available Analog inputs of the Arduino Uno out to an amazing 24Channels! We also provide long legged through headers so the rest of your Arduino pins can be had at easily! You can even plug another shield ontop of this one so long as it doesn’t need A3, A4 or A5! The Analog Expanded pins are offset next to the original Analog pins for easy unhindered access.
All this expansion is performed by only sacrificing 3 of your existing analog pins! A4(SDA) and A5(SCL) are used for i2C and A3 is used for reading from the 3 on-board 8Ch mux chips. The i2C bus can still be used for other shields or accessories by selecting a different address using the i2C address selection header on this shield and corresponding address in the program. A library is provided along with an example. As we are using i2C the Wire.h library also needs to be included along with ladyada’s Adafruit_MCP23008.h library.
An Arduino is necessary to use this shield but is not included.
